Initially, you may notice very subtle changes physically and psychologically, perhaps in your moods and how you’re feeling or reacting to things. You may feel slightly ‘out of key’ and not ‘quite yourself' you start to notice changes in the timing and severity of your menstruation periods and PMS. There may be physical changes like hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, fatigue and low confidence and self-esteem. It can be a very challenging and isolating time in your life. Officially, there are about 36 symptoms generally acknowledged during this time. Each person is unique and so each woman will experience this stage differently. You may experience a few of the symptoms in the list, perhaps you’ll experience all of them or you could be someone who doesn’t experience any of them at all. There is no predicting how your body will react to the hormonal changes taking place but it is certainly a significant journey that your body will embark upon without a doubt.
