Winding Down to Bliss (Hot Head Support 👇)

While the world speeds up with holidays, long evenings and busy calendars, nature quietly reminds us to do the opposite.
To slow down. To breathe a little deeper. To nourish ourselves from the inside out.
Summer is a time for softening into practice, releasing tension, restoring flow, and allowing the body, face and nervous system to return to a more natural state of ease and glow.
With warmer weather, hormonal shifts and sensory overload, headaches and migraines are not uncommon. I recently experienced my second migraine (Although, Im not sure what it was!), completely unexpected and right in between classes.
I found myself teaching a Vinyasa session already feeling out of sorts and quickly realised I couldn't override what was happening in my body. As I lowered my head below my heart, nausea set in. I had to step out of the room and run to the bathroom!
I returned, hoping it would pass, but the same cycle repeated. My head was spinning, I felt faint, and it became very clear that my body was asking me to stop.
I had to lie down for an hour before I could even consider driving home. When I eventually got home, I knew I needed to release some of the pressure building in my head, temples and neck.
But even simple self-massage felt like too much effort. I was completely drained.
Then came an ingenious idea!
I reached for my wooden Gua Sha tool and used it gently with peppermint oil. Within minutes, the pressure in my head began to ease. The nausea settled. The spinning slowed. I started to feel human again. Amen!
Then I fell asleep instantly on the sofa for a couple of hours. When I woke up, the headache had gone. Although I felt as though I'd done a few rounds in the boxing ring, the nausea had lifted, the pressure had eased, and I finally felt like myself again.
I'm sharing this because it reminded me just how powerful simple tools can be when the nervous system is overwhelmed.
And I'll be teaching this approach in our first July session — especially for anyone who experiences headaches, neck tension or migraines, even occasionally.

Hybrid Yoga: Wooden Gua Sha & Neck Release with Block
Please note: this is not a regular Bareface Yoga session.
ybrid Yoga
There will be no facial lifting focus. Instead, this is a deep release practice for the head, neck and nervous system using a wooden Gua Sha tool alongside yoga block support.
If you experience any of the following, this session is for you:
• Neck strain• Headaches and Migraines• A "hot head"• Brain fog• Mood swings• Jaw clenching• Insomnia• Dry or itchy eyes
We'll begin with the wooden Gua Sha, learning how to gently release tension through the face, scalp, jaw and temples.
We'll then move into neck and eye exercises designed to support circulation, encourage lymphatic flow, and ease dryness, fatigue and seasonal allergies.
We'll finish with a deep decompression practice using a yoga block — what I often call a "brain drain." If you've never experienced this before, you're in for a treat.
Not all yoga blocks are created equal, especially the foam ones. The denser the block, the deeper and more effective the release.
If you need to purchase blocks, I recommend getting two, as future practices will build upon this work, although one is enough for now.
These are the exact blocks I use and recommend. If you are buying two bricks, I would strongly recommend you get one foam and one cork - This combo for the different release options is pur BLISS and I will be teaching various set-ups during these HOT summer months to help keep the head cool!
We will begin seated before moving down onto the mat, so please prepare your space in advance. A bed is too soft for this particular release work.
If you don't yet have a block, you are still very welcome to join and take part in the first half of the session using the wooden Gua Sha practice.
For those familiar with aromatherapy, you may also wish to prepare diluted peppermint oil — always used with care and never neat on the skin.
🩷 Monday 27th July @ 8:00-9:00pm
Bareface Gua Sha Glow
A return to the heart of Bareface Yoga practice.
We'll explore the heart-shaped Gua Sha, working with the natural pathways of the lymphatic system to encourage drainage, reduce puffiness, soften muscular tension and restore natural lift.
The warmer months can often leave the body feeling puffy, dehydrated or sluggish. The lymphatic system has no pump of its own — it relies on breath, movement and gentle stimulation to keep fluid flowing.
The face contains a rich network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes, making it especially responsive to gentle massage and Gua Sha work. The result is improved drainage, clearer skin, and a more rested, radiant appearance.
We'll also work with acupressure points to stimulate circulation, awaken facial tone, and support natural vitality from within.
You can expect:
• A brighter complexion• Softer facial tension• Improved circulation• Better lymphatic drainage• A naturally lifted appearance• That unmistakable post-practice glow
💓 Friday 10th July
Bareface Yoga Level 2
For Teachers continuing the Bareface Yoga journey, I look forward to welcoming you to Level 2.
We'll go deeper — refining technique, expanding understanding, and building confidence in both your personal practice and teaching presence.
Everything begins to integrate here.
May your summer be filled with moments of stillness, laughter, connection, and the simple practices that bring you back home to yourself.
With love,
Sue Yen 💗
