The Experimental Summer 🤩

Dear Triple Goddess Yogis,

I hope summer has greeted you with a gentle sun-kiss on your cheek.

I recently spent a few days in Scotland, where the weather was simply spectacular. The days were beautifully sun-drenched, while the evenings brought just enough of a chill to send me searching for a hot water bottle the very next day!

Note to self: Ā travelling without passport = don't forget the hot water bottle, even in summer! šŸ˜‚

Summer is always a quieter teaching season, so I'm making the most of this precious time by becoming my own wellness experiment.

I've collected a few new ā€œexercise props" that I'll be testing over the coming weeks, and I'll be sharing exactly what I discover along the way. These promise an alternative way for my body to age, and all and everything that entails! Time will tell!Ā

Castor Oil Packs

After my persistent cough earlier this year, countless X-rays revealed a shadow around my liver, which led to an ultrasound. Thankfully, it turned out to be exactly that... just a shadow. šŸ˜…

The experience, however, sparked my curiosity.

I've since become fascinated by both the research and the traditional use of castor oil packs for supporting liver function, encouraging relaxation, reducing inflammation and helping the body shift into its rest-and-repair mode. So I thought... why not give them a proper trial?

I'm currently completing a 21-day challenge and I'm excited to see how they influence my sleep, energy, digestion and overall wellbeing. Ill let you know how it goes!

Rebounding

A few minutes of gentle bouncing each day is a wonderfully fun way to stimulate the lymphatic system, support cardiovascular health, improve balance, strengthen bones and muscles, and leave you feeling energised.

As many of you know, I teach lymphatic drainage techniques in my Bareface Yoga, and rebounding beautifully complements this work. Because the lymphatic system doesn't have a pump like the heart, movement is one of the best ways to encourage healthy lymph flow.

The rebounder helps open the lymphatic pathways, supports circulation and gets everything moving.

I'm hoping it will not only support my lymphatic health, but also help maintain bone density and strength as I move through my menopausal period.

Vibration Plate

My newest addition is a vibration plate. (However, you do need both the space and the budget!)

Not all vibration plates are created equal, and one of the most important things to look at is the frequency (hertz), and especially if you are wanting this to be part of your life-long routine! (I know, sounds a bit dramatic, but please do consider this!)Ā

As a mid-life woman who doesn't regularly lift weights (although this may inspire me to start!), I'm particularly interested in its potential to support bone density, muscle strength, circulation and lymphatic flow.

Having completed seven marathons, my goal isn't necessarily to run faster anymore, it's simply to keep running (or what resembles more of a jog these days!) for all many years to come.

My morning runs are sacred for my mental wellbeing, and I'd love to keep them pain-free for as long as possible, as running for me is a life long activity. šŸ™šŸ¼ I'm already enjoying stepping onto the vibration plate after my runs to help nourish my muscles, joints and connective tissues, recovering faster to do it all again the next morning.

What intrigued me even more was discovering that rebounding and vibrational plate are part of astronauts recover from the effects of weightlessness after returning from space. Research has shown it can be an incredibly effective form of exercise while placing less impact on the joints.

I'll let you know whether it lives up to the hype!

Throughout the summer I'll be sharing honest updates, practical tips and everything I'm learning. Come and follow the journey on social media to see what works, what surprises me, and what becomes part of my long-term wellness routine.

August Classes on Triple Goddess Yoga

With August being a busy travel month and the Bank Holiday interrupting our usual Monday schedule, I'm squeezing our live classes in a little earlier so we don't miss out.

And of course, if you can't join me live, every class will be available to replay afterwards on the Triple Goddess Yoga platform.

Both August classes will focus on supporting healthy lymphatic flow to help reduce the puffiness, sluggishness and heaviness that summer heat can sometimes bring.

One class will use just your hands, while the other will use my favourite heart-shaped Gua Sha... and we have a class tonight - depending when you are reading this!

🦁 July 27th @ 8:00pm Bareface - Gua Sha

🦁 August 3rd @ 8:00pm Bareface - Hands Only

🦁 August 10th @ 8:00pm Bareface - Crystal Gua Sha
